Training Program for Pacific Islanders Trade Officials
Since 2009, the Institute for International Trade has been contracted to deliver an AusAID funded ten module training designed specifically to increase the trade policy knowledge and negotiating skills of Pacific Island Trade Officials.
The first of this training program was successfully completed at the end of 2010. Following comprehensive evaluation processes undertaken by AusAID and DFAT in consultation with Pacific Island governments, the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat and the alumni of this first training program, AusAID decided to sponsor a second round of ten module trade training program to continue to build the depth of capacity of Pacific Islanders who can successfully negotiate trade agreements, whether for WTO accession, for EPA negotiations, for PICTA and PACER Plus negotiations or for future bilateral trade agreements.
The Institute successfully delivered the second ten module training program which was complete in first half 2013.
