Aus-EU Free Trade Agreement - Boosting Australian Innovation and Services Export

The next round of negotiations between Australia and the EU takes place in Canberra in mid-February 2020, witnessing the first exchange of market access offers on services. With South Australia poised to gain from intensifying interaction with European partners on a range of services industries including space services, mining services, education services, R&D services, professional services, creative and cultural services, financial services, tourism, health services and ICT services, this event offers an opportunity to delve beyond the recent focus in public discourse on agricultural trade.

Our international speaker is Hein Roelfsema, Professor of Entrepreneurship at Utrecht University, The Netherlands. Our inter-state speaker is Jan Hutton, Services Trade Negotiator with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra.

Our guest speakers will engage “in conversation” with Richard Pomfret, Jean Monnet Professor of the Economics of European Integration and Director of the JM Centre for Excellence in International Trade and Global Affairs at The University of Adelaide, with Jane Drake-Brockman, Industry Professor with IIT and Founder of the Australian Services Roundtable and with Cornelis Keijzer Minister Counsellor, Trade & Economics, Research & Innovation, Delegation of the European Union to Australia.
