Developments in the WTO Appellate Body
Professor James Bacchus
The Institute for International Trade hosted a visit and public lecture by Professor James Bacchus on 14 June 2019. Professor Bacchus currently serves as a Distinguished University Professor of Global Affairs and the Director of the Centre for Global Economic and Environmental Opportunity at the University of Central Florida. He was a founding member, and twice Chairman, of the Appellate Body of the WTO and served as a former member of the US House of Representatives.
During his visit, Professor Bacchus met with the Executive Dean of the Faculty of the Professions, Professor John Williams, IIT Executive Director Professor Peter Draper, and founding IIT Executive Director Andy Stoler, as well as with Faculty staff, researchers and students in international trade and law. In his public address on developments in the WTO Appellate Body, Professor Bacchus also shared his unique experiences on issues of current concern in trade, the environment and global affairs, and engaged in a wide-ranging, profound and open discussion in response to questions from the audience following his lecture in the Moot Court at the Adelaide Law School.
